Arthur Penlington was a career journalist. After spells in local and regional newspapers he joined BBC TV News as an Assistant Producer and spent 17 years with the corporation. He worked on all of the network news programmes and was a launch editor of the BBC’s 24 hour news channel. His final position was Senior Editor of the channel.
His extensive field work included wars in Bosnia, Angola and The Gulf. He covered the aftermath of the Rwanda genocide, a coup in the USSR and the Northern Ireland Troubles. He was involved in election coverage on three continents and edited the first four hours of the 9/11 terrorism attacks.
Originally from Rhyl in north Wales, he moved to Australia in 2005. Home is Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, although he now spends most of his time travelling and writing. Around The World In Wonder Socks is his first book.
